General Robotic Surgery

General Robotic Surgery

"General surgery" is a term used for surgery that focuses on the abdominal organs, thyroid, and skin. Traditional open surgeries with large incisions can have significant drawbacks, including pain, trauma, a long recovery period, and risk of infection. Because robotic-assisted general surgery enhances precision and control, it minimizes the risks associated with open surgeries and may improve outcomes. It also uses tiny incisions rather than the large abdominal incisions of traditional open surgery, resulting in much smaller scars.

Our General Surgeons have been specially trained on the da Vinci Xi® surgical system for the following procedures:

  • Cholecystectomy
  • Nissen fundoplication
  • Hernia repair (inguinal, incisional, ventral)
  • Colectomy (right, left, sigmoidal)
  • Single-site gall bladder surgery. This surgery is performed through one incision in the belly button, with virtually scarless results as in single incision traditional laparoscopy
